You’re not living life on your own terms
Pick your poison, you’re being driven by stress, anxiety, fear, anger. The worst part? You aren’t aware that you have a choice; but, it’s not your fault — it’s by design.
Today’s world is designed to spur our anxiety and reactivity. Social media, advertising, and our always-on culture use these as a tool to constantly sell you something to pacify yourself with. But here’s the powerful truth:
Your anxiety and fear aren’t fixed traits outside of your control. They’re emotional responses programmed by your unique feedback loop of biology, life experience, and belief systems. And that’s a good thing because that means you have a say.
This is where Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT) coaching comes in.

Frequently asked questions

Each coaching session is €100 for 90 minutes. Most coaches charge over €100 for a clinical hour, which is broken out into 50 minutes for the session and 10 for notes. Our sessions are a full 90 minutes, you don’t pay for my note taking. If €100 is prohibitive, and you are a suitable candidate, we can make alternative arrangements so you can still get coaching — it’s the work that’s important!

The clinical hour used by most counselors and coaches, which is only a 50 minute session, is structured to optimize scheduling and billing, not the work. 90 minutes is the optimal session length for multiple reasons, allowing for the setting up of interventions in a way that bypass defense mechanisms.

It depends on a number of factors, including the the urgency of your referral question, i.e. the reason you are entering coaching, and your accountability needs. Generally, you’ll want to start out once per week to build momentum and reduce your frequency over time, e.g. once per month, as you progress.

That’s a great question and difficult to answer, as it depends on a number of factors, including the underlying drivers of your referral question. Often, people seek coaching or counseling to address well-established behavioral patterns — these take time to deconstruct and replace in a sustainable way. That doesn’t mean that you won’t begin to feel relief and / or begin to see improvement early on, it just means that it’ll take time for the “new you“ to set. Additionally, my clients and I often continue our work after resolving the initial referral question, sometimes just for maintenance or to work on another area.

The definition of counseling has been complicated over the years, especially in the US. If by counseling you mean mental health counseling, then that is fundamentally a clinical relationship following the medical model and conducted by a licensed therapist who will diagnose and aim to resolve mental health conditions as defined by diagnostic manuals — that is the strictest definition. In fact, some US states don’t allow you to call yourself a counselor unless you are board licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Coaching is subclinical, i.e. you might be functioning suboptimally and / or are are looking to improve in a specific area. Unfortunately, these definitions prevent people from getting help because they live in a grey area — my skillset lies there, whatever you call me.

The coaching relationship is similar to the counseling one in that it is often one of the most intimate relationships in terms of disclosure a participant may have. Therefore, it is imperative that everything in the session is confidential within the confines of the law; for instance, I am bound to report criminal activity or where imminent harm is indicated. Bear in mind that confidentiality rules are not as strict as the clinical relationship, for instance we don’t have legal privilege.
